Evidence overview

The Inquiry is beginning to seek evidence in the form of witness statements and document disclosure from those who may hold potentially relevant information. This is done via a process governed by Rule 9 of the Inquiry Rules 2006 (‘A Rule 9 Request’).

A Rule 9 Request is a written request from the Inquiry for evidence – specifically, for the recipient to provide a witness statement or potentially relevant documents. You can read more about the Rule 9 process on our Evidence FAQs page.

By sending Rule 9 Requests, the Inquiry is able to obtain information about various issues that fall within its Terms of Reference. A Rule 9 Request can be directed to any named individual, organisation, or entity.

If you have been contacted by the Inquiry to provide evidence, and would like further information about the process, you can contact a member of the Inquiry team. Please see the Contact page for the relevant details.
