Update on Core Participation applications and upcoming public hearings

Outcomes of Core Participation applications

The Lampard Inquiry received around 100 applications for Core Participant status.  We are grateful to everyone who submitted an application.  The Chair and the Inquiry team have now considered all applications and will be communicating the decisions to each applicant over the coming days.

A list of all the Core Participants, except those who have been given permission by the Chair to remain anonymous (via a Restriction order), will be publicly available on our website in due course.

Upcoming public hearings

The Inquiry is intending to hold its first public hearings in September 2024.  The hearings will include opening statements to the Inquiry, as well as commemorative and impact evidence. The Chair will be hearing from those directly affected by the issues under investigation.

The hearings will take place at a venue in Essex from 9 September for three weeks.  They will be held in public and will be live streamed to allow people to watch remotely.  For those participating, it will be possible to make statements either in person or virtually.

For anyone unable to come forward to give evidence in September, we will also be holding virtual hearings in late November.

The Inquiry will be in touch with those affected to provide further details about these hearings.  We will also be asking about their preferences for how they wish to be involved with these events.

We will also provide further detail on this website following the General Election.
