In July the Inquiry will begin to hear oral evidence from bereaved family members concerning the care, treatment, and deaths of their loved ones.
Evidence will primarily focus on those under the care of NEPT and SEPT. However, the Inquiry may also hear evidence from a small number of families related to deaths under EPUT. While deaths under the care of EPUT were not initially planned within the scope of these Hearings – where families have provided their evidence in time and are willing to do so, the Inquiry has decided to make space to hear this evidence at this time. The evidence shared at this Hearing will help guide and inform the Inquiry’s investigations – ensuring that families concerns, experiences, and insights set the direction of these investigations from the start.
At the opening of the July Hearing, Counsel to the Inquiry, Nick Griffin KC will provide a detailed update on the progress of the Inquiry’s work overall. Mr Griffin will also include an update in relation to expert evidence, issues arising from the April Hearing, and any issues relating to future hearings.
An information pack for the July Hearing is on our logistical information page, this provides details about the hearing venue and facilities, how to register to attend, and the Inquiry’s support offer. The pack also outlines the expected conduct of all attendees.
Please note that seating capacity at the hearing venue is limited and we ask that anyone who wishes to attend register in advance. Where possible please register by Friday 27 June.
